ABSTRACT

Social anxiety disorder is a common anxiety disorder in which a key feature is interpersonal avoidance accompanied by generalized problems with emotion identification and emotion regulation. In response to the gap in these therapeutic priorities in other therapies, emotion-focused therapy has emerged to fill the part of the treatment of emotions with an emphasis on the relational process. The paper reviews the recent studies related with the treatment of social anxiety disorder with emotion-focused therapy. The results suggest that the main points of social anxiety onset in an emotion-focused perspective are traumatic emotional experiences and self-criticism, and that the therapeutic focus of emotion-focused therapy is on dealing with the traumatic emotional scenario behind the anxiety and exposing it to adaptive emotions to be transformed. It also works better in combination with other more mainstream therapies. This suggests that emotion-focused therapy is a promising approach for the clinical treatment of social anxiety disorder and looks forward to the development of a more integrated treatment approach in the clinic.

ABSTRACT

In order to understand the effect of intimacy on the sexuality of the modern couple, this article sought to compare two different theoretical aspects of couples' sexual difficulties by authors who are references in the area of couples therapy today. Therefore, the study presented the report of two clinical cases with differences in their functioning, but with the same demand for sexual infrequency.

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

PURPOSE: The purpose of this integrative literature review was to synthesize contents of emotion coaching interventions (ECI) for parents and explore unique changes in parents, parents-child, or child outcomes. METHODS: This research was conducted according to Whittemore and Knafl's integrative review method, which encompassed problem identification, literature search, data evaluation, data analysis, and presentation stages. Relevant searching terms in English and Korean were used for eight electronic databases: MEDLINE, EMBASE, Cochrane library, CINAHL, RISS, KISS, NDSL, and DBpia. RESULTS: A total of 28 studies were selected: 16 Korean and 12 non-Korean ones. Among the selected studies, the ECI for parents was found to be effective in regulating both the parent's and child's emotions. The contents of the ECI seems to be applicable and understandable using self-reflection, emotional competency improvement, and emotion coaching proficiency, especially for demonstration and maintenance of a positive attitude. CONCLUSION: The ECI was an effective intervention which is helpful for child rearing, emotional regulation, and social competence for parents. In addition, it had a positive effect in regulating behavioral problems in children through interventions provided to the parents.

ABSTRACT

This text is about a new way of doing psychoanalytic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis. The exploration of emotions as a means of change. I report a change in my clinical practice in which emotion has become the focus of attention. I use a greater balance between guiding and following the patient, an attention to the markers and use of interventions for each of these markers as the systematic evocation unfolding, focusing, or the empty-chair dialogue. I describe some difficulties of integrating a more effective exploration of the emotion in a psychoanalytic model practiced for many years. Small clinical vignettes illustrate how to explore emotions.
